The True Story of How I Taught My Kids to
Stop Begging and Start Saving

It all began on our family vacation.

Almost immediately after arriving at Disney World in Orlando Florida, my kids starting the worst kind of begging: “Gift Shop” begging.

For an entire week, I found myself arguing, negotiating and unfortunately “caving” to the whims of my daughters (then 3 and 8). I repeatedly said “No”,

...and when I said “Yes” it just reinforced the begging even more!

It was a vicious cycle. I was reinforcing “begging” behaviors, and these lessons were establishing my children’s money management attitiude forever.

The Knot String was my simple solution to vacation begging, but as it turned out, the lessons taught much more than how to spend on a budget.

The Knot String empowered them to master their money. It allowed them to “carry” money, without actually having money in their pocket. It also established a process that REQUIRED parental interaction, so that spending did not happen without my supervision.
